Description
Triticum monococcum
Ancient wheat, first domesticated over 10,000 years ago!
Grow a piece of ancient history! This is the oldest wheat known to scientists, and it lacks the D chromosome present in modern wheats that has been linked to gluten sensitivities. Tall, graceful plants reach 5’ in height and prefer less fertile soils than modern wheats. Einkorn is a hulled wheat which makes it difficult to thresh, though the super delicious & nutritious little wheat berry is worth the effort!
Seed grown by Reditus Natural Farming in Ferdinand, Idaho.
125 seeds.
Directions: Direct sow when soil can be worked in spring, or sow in early fall. Do not remove the hull from the seed prior to planting.
