Solanum lycopersicum
You won't believe the diversity of fruits coming off just one plant!
Bred by William Schlegel in Ronan, Montana, Mission Mountain Sunrise produces oodles of grape to slicer shaped fruits with stunning tie-dye expressions! William crossed a blue bicolor variety from Brad Gates and with an unknown potato leaf variety, which came in a short-season tomato mix from Utah seedsman Joseph Lofthouse. Breed your own tomato by selecting from this variety! Semi-determinate.
Tomatoes are native to northwestern South America and by at least 500 BC they had been domesticated and were being cultivated as far north as modern-day Mexico, enjoyed by Aztec and other civilizations. They spread to Europe and the Caribbean through the Spanish colonizers, where they became staple parts of the food culture in many European countries as well.
