Description
Cucumis melo
Webstore Exclusive
A Canadian heirloom bred for the harsh climate of Quebec.
Once thought lost to the sands of time, this variety was rediscovered by farmer Jean-François Lévêque while looking in the archive of Seed Savers Exchange. A cross between Montreal Melon and Banana Melon, Oka Melon was developed by Father Athanase of the Trappist Monastery at La Trappe, Quebec in 1912. The Trappist monks today have revived the variety and grow it every year to connect with their roots going back 100+ years.
