Tomato, Principe Borghese

  • $4.79

Description

Solanum lycopersicum

Reliable, prolific, early, and tasty!

A staple in the garden of Snake River Seeds' Inventory Manager, Reiley Carney. These plants produce reliably and prolifically even in the "bad" tomato years. Principe Borghese originates from Italy where they are best known for their use as sun-dried tomatoes. Their flavor is slightly more savory than sweet. Reiley uses them for salsa, sauces, salads, and fresh snacking. Harvest a whole cluster when more than half the fruits are red and watch the others mature on your counter or windowsill.

At the end of summer, green fruit clusters can be harvested and stored for another month of fresh tomatoes! Store in a frost-free place and harvest the red tomatoes regularly.

Seeds grown by Reiley and Nick Carney in Boise, Idaho.

30 seeds.

Directions: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost and transplant out after. Bury past first set of leaves, add eggshells to soil for calcium, and provide support.
