Description
Allium ampeloprasm
The long-shanked, winter-hardy winner of our 2014 leek trials!
This Scottish heirloom is our favorite variety for winter-hardiness, producing fat shanks that can be made longer by hilling during the growing season. Leeks are a must for the home gardener--dig them as desired through fall, winter, and early spring.
Seeds grown by Drunken Sailor Farm in Boise, Idaho.
175 seeds.
Directions: Start indoors in flats/pots in late winter. Cut 2" from edible tops when 6" tall to thicken leaves. Transplant outdoors in spring with 12" spacing. Or, direct seed in early spring.
