Description
Lactuca sativa
Superb, seriously cold-hardy and slow-bolting heirloom variety originally bred in Michigan in the 1800s.
Our SRSC grower Bluebird Farm raves about their favorite lettuce, saying "It is tasty, tender, and early, but also holds up to the heat pretty well. It will grow near evergreen trees if well watered." Loose-leaf type with mint-green curly leaves that stay tender and not bitter for months!

Directions: Direct seed in spring, or start indoors in early spring and transplant outdoors after 4-6 weeks. Thin to 12" spacing for heads. For cut and-come-again greens, use 3" spacing.
