Tomato, Sweet Pea Currant

  • $4.00

Description

Solanum pimpinellifolium

These heirloom cherry tomatoes may be tiny but they are packed with flavor. They are known for their considerable yield in both seeds and fruit. HUNDREDS of tiny fruits per each plant! Their growth habits are quite wild and prone to vining. Thompson Creek Farm recommends growing them in a hanging basket.

The wild species of this tomato originated in Ecuador and Peru but was later naturalized in places such as the Galápagos Islands.

Indeterminate.

Tomatoes are native to northwestern South America and by at least 500 BC they had been domesticated and were being cultivated as far north as modern-day Mexico, enjoyed by Aztec and other civilizations. They spread to Europe and the Caribbean through the Spanish colonizers, where they became staple parts of the food culture in many European countries as well.

Seeds grown by Thompson Creek Farm in Newman Lake, WA.

30 seeds.

Directions: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost and transplant out after. Bury past first set of leaves, add eggshells to soil for calcium, and provide support.
