Description
Cucumis sativus
Webstore Exclusive
The most popular pickling cucumber.
Sumpter produces symmetrical 5-6" cucumbers with an attractive color and firm, tender flesh. With its strong, disease-resistant vines and very good yields, Sumter is the ideal choice for gardeners who want to pickle cucumbers and enjoy their harvest throughout the season.
It's a good idea to use a trellis system for growing cucumbers, as it will train the vines to grow vertically, saving valuable garden space. A trellis or cage will also keep the fruit off the ground and encourage good airflow for healthy plants and fruit.
