Allium sativum

Kingsland Softneck is an artichoke type that my (Kelly Kingsland) mom bought in a Safeway grocery store in 1970, and my family has grown out ever since. It stores incredibly well--for nearly a year, has 10 large cloves per bulb, and for a softneck is incredibly easy to peel. We have sold it in braids at our booth at the farmers market, and it has a great reputation in these parts. Over the years, many farmers have bought seed from us. A lot of the softneck sold regionally is this!

Kingsland averages 10 cloves per bulb and 5-7 bulbs per pound.

Description and seed garlic sourced from Affinity Farm in Moscow, Idaho.

Storage instructions: Keep your garlic bulbs in a paper bag in a cool, dark, dry place until you are ready to plant it. The ideal storage temperature is 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. Air needs to circulate freely around the bag. Do not store garlic in the refrigerator.

Sowing instructions: Garlic is best sown in the fall after the first frost of the season. Wait until just before planting to separate the bulbs into cloves. Plant the clove with the pointed end facing up. We recommend mulching your garlic bed with a light layer of leaves or straw to help with weed suppression and overwintering.
