A Canadian heirloom bred for the harsh climate of Quebec.

Once thought lost to the sands of time, this variety was rediscovered by farmer Jean-François Lévêque while looking in the archive of Seed Savers Exchange. A cross between Montreal Melon and Banana Melon, Oka Melon was developed by Father Athanase of the Trappist Monastery at La Trappe, Quebec in 1912. The Trappist monks today have revived the variety and grow it every year to connect with their roots going back 100+ years.

Seeds grown by Sunnyside Vine Farm in Lenore, ID.

30 seeds.

Directions: Start indoors in pots 4-5 weeks before last frost and transplant outside after. Or direct seed after last frost. Harden for a week before transplanting, and water thoroughly after. Muskmelons are ripe when they slip from the vine when you give them a tug.
