Diane Green and Thom Sadoski
Greentree Naturals
Diane and her husband Thom own and operate Greentree Naturals, a small acreage farm outside of Sandpoint, Idaho. Their farm has been certified organic since 1992. They highlight what makes many small farms thrive today—mixing different types of enterprises, trying new marketing approaches, and continually improving production with help from on-farm and university research.
After selling at the Farmers Market for 28 years, supplying six local fine dining establishments and the local naturals foods store, managing a small vegetable and flower CSA, we have downsized our gardens to an acre and “retired” to a one day a week on-farm stand during the peak of the harvest season. Diane uses Greentree Naturals to support and encourage growers of all kinds, offering approachable education and consulting in organic gardening, small-acreage farming, business planning, and sustainable agriculture.
Diane is one of the co-founders of the University of Idaho Cultivating Success Small Farms program and has been a small farms consultant, farmer mentor, and educator working with small acreage farmers since 2000. She is currently working with the Northwest Transition to Organic Partnership Program as a mentor through Oregon Tilth and the Organic Seed Alliance and is an advisor with the Organic Farming Research Foundation.
Seed saving has been an important aspect of developing successful cold hearty crops for our northern location on the 48th Parallel. We are pleased to provide Snake River Seed Cooperative with some of our seed harvest this year! For more information about Diane and Greentree Naturals visit our website.
