The Chioggia beet (pronounced kee-OH-gee-uh), aka the "candy cane" or "candy stripe" beet, is from Chioggia, in Northern Italy. It first became a hit in the 19th century. This heirloom beet is well known for its the white and pink concentric circles that lay within! Their vibrancy adds the most delightful color to soups and salads.
