Description

Centaurea cyanus

AKA Bachelor's Buttons. Low care, deep purple edible flower.

This self-seeding annual grows to 3' tall and blooms through the summer. Black Ball is a deliciously dark purple with edible flowers. Folks near foothills should exercise caution as bachelor's buttons can naturalize and compete with natives in some areas. Great in meadow gardens and as a middle-of-the-border plant. Open-pollinated.

Seeds grown by Swift River Farm in Salmon, Idaho, Rich Felton in Rawlins, Wyoming, and Green Phoenix Farm in Salt Lake City, Utah.

50 seeds.

Directions: Direct seed in spring. Slightly frost tolerant.
