Description
Centaurea cyanus
Also known as bachelor's button, this annual (Zones: 2-11) makes for a great cut flower.
Blue cornflower is drought tolerant and grows up to 3 feet. It's a big favorite for gardeners establishing meadows or cottage gardens. Pollinators love its flowers and it's a low maintenance, easy to grow annual. This flower is an heirloom variety!
Keep deadheading throughout the summer to encourage new blooms. Their flowers can be dried as well!
Folks near foothills should exercise caution as bachelor's buttons can naturalize and compete with natives in some areas. Great in meadow gardens and as a middle-of-the-border plant.
Seeds grown by Quel Ranch in Garden City, Idaho.

Directions: Direct seed in Spring (after last frost) or Fall. They do not transplant well due to their long tap root. Prefers full or part sun in well drained soil.
