Description
Scabiosa atropurpurea
Dark maroon flowers create a moody garden from summer through fall.
This easy-to-grow plant sports gorgeous button-shaped purple-black flowers on long graceful stems, making it a stunning addition to a cut flower garden. It reaches 2 1/2' tall and is beloved in the garden by more than just humans. Many different insects and pollinators give it a visit as they seek out its sweet nectar. After the blooms fade, it makes delightful Tim Burton-esque seeds that elicit elaborate stories of fancy from all who make their acquaintance.
