Description
Eschscholzia californica
Low-water, low-care, and cheerful as all get out! Brightens up tough spots!
These easy-to-grow flowers are self-seeding and will bloom for months beginning in late spring. They can handle hot, dry, and rocky spots as well as fertile, well-watered ones. They play well with others, but can also be left alone! Mix contains a variety of bright, sunny colors. Plants grow to 12-16" tall. Open-pollinated.
Seed grown by Thompson Creek Farm in Newman Lake, Washington.
300 seeds.
Directions: Direct seed in fall or early spring. Or, start indoors 4 weeks before last frost and transplant out after. Unlike most poppies, California poppies can germinate without a long period of cold stratification, though frost does help them break dormancy. Poppies reseed.
