Tomato, Stupice

Description

Solanum lycopersicum

Early-ripening heirloom, throwing out oodles of 1-2” fruits as early as 4th of July in the Treasure Valley!

Though you often read that Stupice lacks in flavor what it makes up for in early maturity, we find this Czechoslovakian heirloom to be packed with sweet flavor! Excellent early salad tomato. Works well in pots.

Tomatoes are native to northwestern South America and by at least 500 BC they had been domesticated and were being cultivated as far north as modern-day Mexico, enjoyed by Aztec and other civilizations. They spread to Europe and the Caribbean through the Spanish colonizers, where they became staple parts of the food culture in many European countries as well. Their circuitous journey brought them from the Western hemisphere all the way to Czechoslovakia and back again!

Indeterminate. Open-pollinated.
