Description
Levisticum officinale
Hardy perennial, much easier to grow than celery, but with similar flavor.
We don’t even bother growing celery when we have easy, happy lovage around. Makes a fantastic addition to soups, stews, and stuffings. Young stalks make a unique straw for Bloody Mary's, too! Harvest stalks in spring when they are about 1-2' tall and use fresh in your dishes as you would celery. Established plants will get 6-10’ tall seed stalks, so plant them out of the way. Bees love the flowers in summer!
